Birth

Arthur Barrow was born in the Manor House, Wedmore in Somerset on 25th January 1815 (Wikitree incorrectly state 1814). He was the fifth child of John and Charlotte Maria Barrow, his father being a Justice of the Peace in Wedmore for 38 years.

It is recorded (on Wikitree) that he had 15 brothers and sisters.  MyHeritage states that there were 20 siblings in total, while Find a Grave Memorial identifies 12 brothers and sisters.  Below are those on Wikitree, with ‘?’ used for those not identified on the third of the above websites.

Arthur Barrow had a private baptism in Wedmore on 25th May 1815.

Marriage

On 28th November 1848, just short of his 34th birthday he married Harriet Allen in St. Andrew’s Church in Burnham-on-Sea, Harriet being the eldest daughter of John Allen Esq. of that parish.

In 1861 Arthur Barrow was living at 100 North Mertles (possibly now Myrtle Drive near St. Andrew’s Church), Burnham, Somerset with his wife, one son and three daughters, also a nephew, John D. Giles, and two servants.

 

Death

Arthur Barrow died on the 26th April 1866 on sick leave from HMS Cumberland, at Clifton near Bath in the County of Somerset.

 

Burial

He was buried on the 1st May 1866 in St. Andrew’s churchyard in Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset.
